Anyone heard about the little owl on American $1 greenbacks? It's supposedly something to do with freemasons and the "elite" of america so I've heard. I can't describe where it's at, but look online for it's exact location.

Welcome to the Owlers Forum.
When I first check a dollar bill I could not find the owl. But, checkin on-line, I finally did find it.
From what I understand, it is suppose to be a Great-Horned Owl. Pretty cool little fact. _________________ Always looking for Owls in Greene County NY |

I didn't see any explanation, but I am assuming that it was put in for security protection. _________________ Always looking for Owls in Greene County NY |

wow! That us SUPER tiny! but, why pick a great horned owl? Didn't a lot of native american tribes associate them with bad things? That really is strange! I wonder what else is hidden on the dollar bill. _________________ -megski |

The owl was added in the 50's or 60's. I am speculating that it is a GHO. It sort of looks like one, but who knows. It is very small.
I also understand that there are 2 spiders on it also. Didn't look for them.
From all of my research, know one seems to know why the owl is there, and the Treasury Department does not even acknowledge that the owl exist. But, obviously it does. That is why I think that it is a security feature. As the dollar bills get older, the owl starts to wear off. _________________ Always looking for Owls in Greene County NY |

| Wow! I actually found it on the dollar bill after seeing this post. Still looking for the spiders. I'd google it, but I'm afraid of pictures of spiders. |

After doing a bit more research, I
1. couldn't find a picture of spiders, and
2. got a lot of sites that said the owl WAS the spider. |

Well, if you ignore what looks to be the head of the owl on the dollar bill, it does slightly resemble a spider. _________________ The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing. |

You can find a reference to the spiders at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_one-dollar_bill
If you look at the bottom of the dollar bill, it is in the middle between the "ONE DOLLAR" wording and the round "1" on the very bottom line. _________________ Always looking for Owls in Greene County NY |

| If you simply google, "great horned owl bohemian grove" you can find a lot of links between that on the dollar bill and the skull and bones society. |
