The movie "Hoot" based on the novel by Carl Hiassen is due for release in April 2006!

Here is the official site: http://www.hootmovie.com

I downloaded the trailer, and I'm afraid it looks a bit lame - especially when they have a Great Horned Owl's hoot for the burrowing owls...

The move Hoot is based on a book... does that still make it a cheesy teen movie? I'm into children's literature, being a teacher, so this book was double my pleasure (children's lit about owls).

Those were the cutest Burrowing owls I've ever seen! They look just like Digger! (in Ga'Hoole books)

well, in an interesting twist, the promoters of the movie have contacted me, and sent me some stuff to use to promote the movie on the web... so, i've just created a mini-site at http://www.owlpages.com/hoot-movie/

if you look at the trailer, they have dubbed the impressive Hoot of the Great Horned Owl (GHO) into the movie to replace the true (unimpressive whimper) of the Burrowing owl - kind of like those comedy film clips when you see a kitten open it's mouth, and the roar of a lion comes out Laughing

Has anyone seen it yet? I think it comes out May 5 here, but maybe not elsewhere.

Are they Burrowing Owls? I thought they were Little Owls or Tawnys in the book.

Could be wrong... it's been a long time.

They're in Britan, or England, sometimes they see things before other countries do.

My understanding is the release date was pushed back... I wasn't sure if that was everywhere or just where I am.

I also know I had the opportunity (but was busy) to see it before anyone else back in early April. I'm not that special, so others could certainly have had the same opportunity. There are more ways to see a movie before it comes out if you're in the right place at the right time.
