Oh, man, I hope not. It should be PG-13, definitally. I mean, I'm a teen, and I like violence and gore, so they shouldn't cut any out. No WAY.

Hey, you'd be surprised at what they've been able to get away with in even G-rated movies. (The Land Before Time comes to mind... the scene where the T-rex kills Littlefoot's mom used to give me nightmares when I was a little kid!) And remember people, KL is writing the script, so she'll probably be able to work a reasonable amount of violence in there.

(off-topic) Like the movie Poltergiest It was rating PG, but under modern cercumstances it'd be rated R. (that has nothing to do with the GoG movie)

(on-topic) yeah, they can get away with some pretty violent stuff in G and PG- rated movies, so I'm still hoping for gore. And since Kathryn is writting the screenplay, the movie might turn out pretty good.

True, but I still would like it if they made the G.O.G movie PG-13.

Some Harry Potter movies are rated PG-13.

Why shouldn't G.O.G? If it was rated PG-13, the chances will be pretty higher that the gore won't be left out.

PG-13 movies mean you can't get in without a parent if you're under 13. That is usually because of language (usually not BAD words, but "damn" and "hell" and stuff like that). It could also mean there are violent scenes (but nothing TOO bloody) or death.

Think about Harry Potter- 1 was PG, but 5 was PG-13. There was more violence, death, and scary scenes.

haha i know this is kinda off topic but reading what others put about asking their parents i realize how unstrict (is that even a real word?) my parents were because when i was 2-4 Jurassic Park was my bedtime movie and that was only rated PG-13 and they had curses and blood and people being eaten alive and body parts being ripped off so yeah they can get away with a lot in a PG-13 movie

as for what they'll probely cut out I'm thinking a lot of the St. Aggies hatching of Eglantine probebly the puffins scince they're not actually that important some of the mirror lakes but they'll probrly have to have some of them because they apear in a couple other books depending on how child friendly they are going to make it they might take out drinking so i'm not sure if they are going to take out some of the celebrations or just keep the owls sober beleive it or not there is a good chance they will take out Trader Maggs they might change the way Soren and Primrose meet

but also as for adding all the songs if they turn it into a musical or something i will cry

Very well-put, Theowlette. Smile

Yeah, if H. Potter can be rated PG-13, why souldn't G.O.G? That way, it could keep the He** words in the movie like in The Capture and more importantly, the blood and gore and violence! Very Happy

I'll still go see it if it turns out to be PG, I'd be excited, but not as delighted as the PG-13 thing.

If it turns out to be rated G *shudders*, I'll be reading Screen It! [ where you can read the contents of movies now playing in theaters or movies already on D.V.D ] first to see if it's worth going.

Actually, Streak and Zan (the bald eagles) killed Jatt and Jutt and wounded Aunt Finny.

* * * * * * * * *

[[My updated post of what they should cut out in the movie- - -]]

1. Soren and Gylfie's discussion about Unk. [not all that major]

2. The belching scene. [cute, but nothing more than a filler scene]

3. Silver's and Nut Beam's whining and Ruby's unneccesary rage. [kind of fillerish]

4. The drunken dance scene. [another filler scene and it might upset the parents]

5. The scene where the Pure Ones soar over the sea to reach the Ga'Hoole tree. [not exactly a major scene]

6. Ginger "playing" with the mouse. [people, especially the parents, will most likely see that as too graphic and disturbing for kids]

7. The bad slug scene and Ginger asking for Primrose's dessert. [not exactly a momumental scene]

8. Eglantine over-reacting to the word "dear" and Soren telling her to give it a blow and the discussion of the word "darling". [kind of important, but not super-important scene]

9. Gragg talking to Ifghar about the battle claws. [again, kind of important, but not super-important]

10. The part where Nyra asked Doc Finebeak if Coryn was dead. [important, but not that important]

11. They might block out the part where Nyra tears out Phillip's heart and block out the disembodied heart. [people, especially the parents, will most likely see that as too graphic and disturbing for kids]

12. They might block out the scene where Twilight splits Kludd's spine in half. [yet again, people, especially the parents, will most likely see that as too graphic and disturbing for kids]

13. The scene where Nyra murders the Rogue Smith of Silverveil. [people might see that scene as too upsetting for kids to see; they can always mention that Nyra killed the rogue smith or something]

14. The part where Hoole was a newly hatched owlet. [didn't do anything major, just acted like a typical, gluttonous owlet]

15. They might decrease the amount of polar bear scenes. [time limit]

16. The part where MacHeath lost his eye. [people, parents especially, might see that scene as too squeamish for kids]

17. They might decrease the amout of scenes where MacHeath's brutally scarred mates appear, block out the scars, or delete them altogether. [people, parents especially, might see that scene as too squeamish for kids]

18. They might edit/cut out the part where MacNamara slaughters MacHeath. [yet again, people, parents especially, might see that scene as too squeamish for kids]

19. They might edit/remove the scene where the disembodied organs, eyes, and body parts Kreeth uses to decorate her cave. [see number 16-18 for reasons]

20. They might edit out most of Lutta's chickhood. [time limit]

21. They might shorten the scenes with Shadyk. [his life style might appear too grim for young viewers]

22. They might cut out most of the scenes where Penryck and Arrin talk to each other. [time limit]

23. They might cut out some of the scenes with Ygryk and Pleek flying around from place to place. [some might see that as boring; time limit]

24. The part where Kreeth threatened to tear out Lutta's eyes. [some might see that as too graphic]

25. They might edit Lutta's death scene. [some might see that as too graphic and upsetting, especially for the kids]

26. The scene where the Band went rabbit hunting. [kind of fillerish]

27. They might edit out some of the scenes with the "guardians of guardians" and their obsession with the Ember, especially the part with Madame Plonk's ermine-robe. [so much to film, so little time]

28. They might shorten Otulissa's imprisionment scenes. [mostly important, but a bit fillerish]

29. They might edit out most of the scenes with the Band flying over the River of Wind [some might see that as fillerish and boring]

30. They might edit out some of the scenes with Bell and the Striga in them. [kind of more fillerish than important]

31. They might edit out some of the Blue Feather Club/Blue Feather Birgade scenes. [important, but a lot of fillerish moments]

32. They might edit out most of the controvery-talk about Coryn. [important, but not too important]

33. They might edit out most of the traveling scenes where the Guardians gather up forces for the war. [some might see the traveling scenes as a bit dull]

34. They might block out/tone down most of the scars/wounds on Nyra's face. [some might see that as too graphic and disturbing, especially for the kids]

35. They might cut out most of the parts where the puffins act dumb or silly. [kind of fillerish]

35. They might tone down the scenes where Coryn, Nyra, and the Striga die. [some might see those scenes as too graphic and disturbing, especially for the kids]

36. They might make Soren's triumph/leadership ceromony more joyous and more ceromonious. [after all, most of the creators of kid-friendly movies always want the hero to have a big and epic finish, especially the hero that started the series]

Okay, phew, done for now. XD

Wow, you're quite optimistic, picking out scenes from later books that they might cut out. I know that the series is technically a "kid's" book series, but the violence is what makes some of the books interesting.

Thanks! Smile

Yeah, something tells me that they'll make sequels, seeing how it's a very popular book series like Harry Potter.

They might make the movies this way- - -

first movie: 1-3 [confirmed]

second movie: 4-6

third movie: 7-8

fourth movie: 9-11

fifth movie: 12-13

sixth movie: 14-15

Well, that's how I'd make the sequels anyway.

And, as for the G.O.G violence, I love the violence too, but we still have to keep in mind that it's a kid-friendly series as well, and they'll most likely go easy on the blood-and-gore. The highest rating they can possibly get is either P.G or [if lucky] P.G-13.

Reading about the bloodshed is one thing, seeing it on the big screen is another.

But, that's why we read the books as well. Wink Very Happy

Pfft. GoG? A popular book series like Harry Potter? You live in a strange world. xD

Anyway, Most of you have been listing the scenes they may remove based on what happens in the books, but remember the movie is going to be very different from the actual series. They're probably going to take out a lot of scenes as well as adding a lot.

(and in Alice in Wonderland, a PG movie, they got away with showing a dragon's head being sliced off, a beast gouging three bloody wounds into Alice's arm, the same beast's eye being plucked out, and a blood-filled moat of decapitated heads. I don't think having scars on an owl's face is going to be an issue.)
